Journey of Faith, Healing, and Renewal My Solo Parents Encounter
BLD Solo Parents Encounter
A spiritual journey of healing, reflection, faith, restoration, and rediscovering God's love through life's struggles, storms, and brokenness.
Introduction
Hello, I am Gerard Jude Orbase, one of the participants and attendees of the BLD Solo Parents Encounter Weekend No. 10 held on March 14–15, 2026.
As one of the people who personally attended this encounter, I witnessed and experienced how powerful God's presence can truly be when people begin opening their hearts despite pain, brokenness, fear, confusion, and silent struggles in life.
This encounter became more than just a spiritual gathering or weekend activity for me. It became a journey filled with realizations, healing, reflection, renewal, understanding, and rediscovery of God's unconditional love and purpose.
Throughout the encounter, I saw how many solo parents silently carried emotional burdens, loneliness, rejections, disappointments, heartbreaks, and sacrifices that are often hidden behind smiles and forced strength. Some came carrying deep wounds from the past. Others came searching for peace, answers, hope, and healing.
Yet despite all those struggles, God gently reminded every participant that they are not forgotten, abandoned, or alone. He reminded us that our brokenness does not remove our value, and our painful experiences do not cancel His purpose for our lives.
Because of the lessons, reflections, and realizations that deeply touched my heart during this encounter, I felt inspired to create this simple work and share the learnings that I personally received.
This book is based on the teachings, Bible reflections, experiences, realizations, and explanations shared throughout the Solo Parents Encounter. My desire is not only to share information, but to help every reader continue reflecting, understanding, remembering, and living the deeper meaning behind every topic discussed during the encounter.
I also hope that through this material, the lessons from the encounter will continue living in our hearts even after the weekend has ended. Sometimes spiritual encounters become meaningful during the event itself, but slowly fade away as people return to their daily lives and struggles. This work was created to help preserve those realizations and continue inspiring spiritual growth, faith, healing, and hope.
More than simply reading chapters, my prayer is that every reader may personally encounter God's love, guidance, peace, and healing through these reflections. May every topic become an opportunity for self-reflection, renewal, and deeper surrender to God.
Each chapter contains spiritual reflections, Bible passages, important realizations, personal learnings, and meaningful insights that can guide solo parents and even other individuals who may also be experiencing storms, brokenness, fear, uncertainty, or emotional struggles in life.
One of the greatest lessons I personally learned from this encounter is that pain does not define a person's worth. Brokenness does not remove dignity. And even during life's darkest storms, God continues to heal, restore, guide, strengthen, and love His people faithfully.
No matter how painful the past may be, God can still transform wounds into testimonies, struggles into strength, and brokenness into purpose.
May this simple work become an instrument of encouragement, healing, faith, understanding, and spiritual growth for everyone who reads it. And may every reader continue walking with God with renewed hope, stronger faith, and a heart open to His love and purpose.
One of the deepest journeys in life is not traveling to different places, meeting different people, or achieving success. The greatest journey is encountering one's true self.
During the BLD District Solo Parents Encounter, many hearts were opened, not only to God, but also to the hidden realities within themselves. Some carried pain, rejection, disappointments, guilt, fears, and unanswered questions. Others carried silent battles that no one else could see.
But in the middle of brokenness, God gently reminds every person that they are still valuable, loved, and wonderfully created.
— Psalm 139:14
Learning Reflections
The encounter with self is not about discovering perfection. It is about accepting reality, embracing healing, and recognizing that God's love remains constant despite human weaknesses.
Many solo parents silently carry emotional burdens while trying to become strong for their children and families. Behind every smile may be pain, sacrifice, loneliness, or exhaustion. Yet God sees every hidden tear, every silent prayer, and every battle fought in private.
This encounter teaches us that identity should never be based on failures, status, broken relationships, or the opinions of other people. Our identity is rooted in God.
Key Learnings
- God created every person with purpose and dignity.
- Brokenness does not remove a person's worth.
- Healing begins when a person honestly faces their inner struggles.
- Self-acceptance is an important step toward spiritual growth.
- Solo parents are not abandoned; they are seen, loved, and strengthened by God.
- Past pain should not define the future.
- True restoration starts when a person allows God to enter the deepest parts of their life.
Key Takeaways
- You are fearfully and wonderfully made by God.
- Your story may be painful, but your life still carries purpose.
- God understands every silent struggle you cannot explain to others.
- You are more than your mistakes, failures, or broken experiences.
- Healing is possible through faith, acceptance, and surrender to God.
- The encounter with self becomes meaningful when it leads a person closer to Christ.
Conclusion
The Encounter With Self is the beginning of transformation. It allows a person to remove emotional masks and become honest before God. In that sacred moment, healing starts, identity is restored, and hope begins to rise again.
For every solo parent attending the BLD District Encounter, this chapter is a reminder that even after pain, rejection, or loss, God still calls them His masterpiece.
Being a solo parent is one of the most difficult journeys a person can experience. It carries emotional, financial, physical, and spiritual burdens that are often hidden behind silent sacrifices and forced strength.
Many solo parents wake up every day carrying responsibilities alone. They strive to provide, protect, nurture, and remain strong despite exhaustion, fears, loneliness, and uncertainties. There are moments when life feels overwhelming, like a storm that never ends.
Yet amid every storm, God remains present. Even when life feels unstable and uncertain, His love continues to sustain and strengthen every weary heart.
— Joshua 1:9
Bible Reflection
The disciples experienced fear when a violent storm shook their boat. Waves entered the boat, and panic filled their hearts while Jesus appeared to be sleeping. In desperation, they cried out to Him, afraid that they would perish. Jesus stood and rebuked the wind and the sea saying, “Quiet! Be still!” and immediately the storm calmed. This story reminds every solo parent that storms are part of life, but no storm is greater than the power and presence of God. There may be moments of fear, loneliness, rejection, abandonment, or uncertainty, yet Jesus remains inside the boat. God never promised a life without storms, but He promised His presence in the middle of them. Sometimes the greatest miracle is not the removal of the storm, but the peace that God gives while we go through it. For every solo parent, Jesus understands every silent cry, every hidden pain, and every sleepless night. And just as He calmed the sea, He can also calm the troubled heart.
Learning Reflections
The encounter with self as a solo parent is an invitation to honestly recognize one's struggles, limitations, fears, and emotional wounds. It is not a sign of weakness to admit pain. Rather, it becomes the beginning of healing and restoration.
Many solo parents feel abandoned, rejected, or unworthy because of painful experiences from the past. But God's love is not based on human failures or broken situations. Every solo parent remains valuable, chosen, and deeply loved by God.
This encounter teaches that strength does not mean carrying burdens alone. True strength is found when a person learns to surrender everything to God and trust Him completely.
Key Learnings
- God walks with every solo parent through every storm of life.
- Fear and pain are real, but faith allows a person to continue moving forward.
- A broken situation does not destroy a person's dignity and worth.
- Healing begins when a person becomes honest before God.
- God gives strength to those who feel weak and tired.
- Solo parents are not alone in their struggles because God remains faithful.
- Peace is possible even in the middle of life's storms.
Key Takeaways
- God remains present even during life's most difficult seasons.
- You are stronger than the storms you face because God walks beside you.
- Fear should not control your future.
- Your worth is not defined by your broken experiences.
- There is hope, healing, and restoration through Christ.
- Every storm has a purpose in strengthening faith and character.
Conclusion
The Encounter With Self as a Solo Parent is not merely about recognizing pain and struggles. It is about discovering God's presence in the middle of every storm.
Just as Jesus calmed the raging sea, He also brings peace, courage, and hope to every wounded heart. For every solo parent attending the BLD District Encounter, this chapter serves as a reminder that no storm is too strong when God is present in the boat.
One of the greatest needs of every human heart is the desire to be loved, accepted, valued, and understood. Many people spend years searching for love in relationships, success, material things, or approval from others, yet still feel empty and incomplete inside.
For many solo parents, life can sometimes feel lonely and painful. There are wounds caused by rejection, abandonment, betrayal, and broken relationships. Some silently question their worth and wonder if they are still deserving of love.
But God's love is different from human love. His love does not fail, abandon, or change. Even in weakness, pain, and brokenness, God continues to embrace every person with compassion and mercy.
— John 15:13

One of the greatest struggles of every person is learning to surrender personal plans, dreams, and desires to the will of God. Many people desire control over their lives because they fear uncertainty, pain, or failure.
For many solo parents, life did not happen according to their original plans. There were unexpected heartbreaks, losses, sacrifices, and painful experiences that changed the direction of their journey. Sometimes it becomes difficult to understand why God allows certain struggles to happen.
Yet even in confusion and uncertainty, God continues to work silently in every situation. His plans are always greater than human understanding, and His will always leads toward healing, growth, and purpose.
— Philippians 2:13

One of God's greatest gifts to humanity is the gift of community. No person is meant to journey through life alone. God created people to support, encourage, love, and strengthen one another especially during difficult seasons of life.
For many solo parents, there are moments of loneliness, isolation, and emotional exhaustion. Some carry silent burdens without anyone to listen, understand, or comfort them. At times, life may feel overwhelming when responsibilities become too heavy to carry alone.
But through community, God reminds every person that they are never alone. He sends people who become instruments of His love, comfort, guidance, and encouragement.
— Romans 12:15
Bible Reflection
Learning Reflections
Encountering the gift of community teaches every person the importance of connection, unity, and compassion. God did not design people to live isolated lives. He created relationships so people may help, support, and strengthen one another.
Many solo parents become emotionally tired because they carry responsibilities alone. Sometimes pride, fear, or past hurts prevent them from opening their hearts to others. But healing often begins when people allow themselves to receive love, support, and encouragement from a caring community.
This encounter teaches that community is not about perfection. It is about people journeying together despite weaknesses and struggles while helping each other grow closer to God.
Key Learnings
- God created people to journey together in love and unity.
- Community becomes a source of healing, strength, and encouragement.
- No person should carry burdens alone.
- God often uses people as instruments of His love and comfort.
- Healing grows through relationships built on compassion and faith.
- The BLD community serves as a spiritual family for wounded hearts.

- God places people in your life to guide and strengthen you.
- Community brings hope during difficult seasons.
- Healing becomes easier when people journey together.
- Love and compassion create stronger spiritual relationships.
- Faith grows deeper through fellowship and shared experiences.
Conclusion
The Gift of Community reminds every person that God's love is often experienced through relationships and fellowship. Through caring hearts, supportive friendships, and spiritual family, God allows healing and hope to grow once again.
For every solo parent attending the BLD District Encounter, this chapter serves as a reminder that they do not walk alone. God surrounds them with people who can help carry burdens, share joys, and strengthen faith throughout life's journey.
Personal Reflection
As we come to the end of this spiritual journey, may we continue reflecting on the lessons, realizations, and experiences shared throughout the BLD Solo Parents Encounter.
Life may continue to bring storms, uncertainties, brokenness, and struggles, but may we always remember that God remains faithful in every season of our lives.
May these reflections continue to inspire healing, forgiveness, understanding, hope, faith, and deeper surrender to God's love and purpose.
No matter how painful the past may be, God can still restore what is broken, heal wounded hearts, and transform pain into testimony and purpose.
